At the University of Nairobi, an exhibition on cooperation in Africa was inaugurated

On February 6, 2025, the campus of the University of Nairobi hosted the ceremonial opening of an exhibition on RECETOX activities in Africa over the past 15 years, prepared by the Regional Centre for the Stockholm Convention (SCRC) in 2024. The event was attended by the Czech delegation, the Minister of the Environment, and the Czech Ambassador.

The University of Nairobi is one of SCRC’s main partners in monitoring POPs and has been collaborating with the center since 2008, coordinating a network of 10 other countries where monitoring takes place. Further collaborations have focused on pesticide exposure, capacity building, and training experts in various countries, as well as improving surface water quality.

At the opening of the exhibition, the Czech Minister of the Environment, Petr Hladík, delivered the keynote speech. He was in Nairobi for discussions with the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The university leadership praised RECETOX for its long-term cooperation and proposed expanding the collaboration to other areas. The University of Nairobi, which offers a total of 70 study programs, expressed interest in participating in student mobility programs, among others.
