Our ESR Diana Ilyaskina spent her hybrid secondment in February 2023 with NIVA - Norwegian Institute for Water Research in Oslo, Norway. She focused on learning about Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP) development. You can read her experiences in this short report.
My internship was arranged in a hybrid format, where the first month I have been working remotely and arrived at NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research) in February 2023. I spent three weeks there learning about Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOP) development and enjoying Oslo.
I collaborated with Knut Erik Tollefsen and Simon Schmid on a conceptual AOP project integrating Lipidomics data and its link to reproductive adverse outcomes. The support and warm welcome of my NIVA colleagues made this experience even more enriching.
During my internship, I developed a conceptual AOP framework, incorporating existing literature data, my own insights from lipidomics data I have collected over two years and its correlation with reproduction alteration (which is assessed as an adverse outcome).
The vibrant work environment at NIVA fostered collaboration and encouragement.
In addition, Oslo is a beautiful city, which charmed my overall experience. Exploring its landscapes and cultural heritage even in wintertime was exciting.
The guidance of Knut Erik and Simon was valuable, and discussions were always bringing a lot of ideas and insights. I am grateful for the opportunity to work at NIVA.
Thank you for the support and opportunity provided by the EU Commission under the Marie Sokolowskis-Curie Action – European Training Network (Project No.: 859891).
We wish you HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024! May it bring you health, love and ever more success in your life.
