We wish you HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024! May it bring you health, love and ever more success in your life.
Our ESR, Simon Schmid spent his cumulative secondment in January 2022 and July 2022 at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA). His visit was focused on the establishment of and measurement using a LC/MS method for the quantification of carbohydrate metabolites. This method was planned to be used to quantify these metabolites in exposed Daphnia magna. At VUA, he cooperated with our ESR Diana Ilyaskina (ESR6). You can read his experiences in this short report.
I visited VUA in January 2022 and July 2022, for a cumulative secondment period of 6 weeks. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by Diana Ilyaskina (ESR 5), as well as Marja Lamoree and Pim Leonards.
The goal of the first secondment period (January 2022) was to establish a LC/MS method for the quantification of carbohydrate metabolites. This method was planned to be used for the quantification of these metabolites in exposed Daphnia magna. The actual measurement of the samples was conducted in July 2022. I really appreciated to profit from the knowledge of Diana and the team at VUA and it was a big help for my PhD studies. Besides working in the lab and gaining experience in analytical chemistry I had the opportunity to enjoy both winter and summer in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed my stay.
We wish you HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024! May it bring you health, love and ever more success in your life.
Audrey Phan, our ESR8, spent her secondment at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in Brabrand, Denmark. This internship provided her with invaluable insights into the dynamic realm of industrial research and development. About her experiences, you can read in this report.
